چکیده
On January 1, 2022, mandatory genetically engineered (GE) food disclosure labeling became required nationwide in the United States. To date, only GE law implemented U.S. was Vermont’s Act 120. This article examines consumer purchasing response to implementation of 120 using store-level scanner data purchases. We measure effects on grocery store sales (1) certain GE-labeled products, (2) non-GMO labeled and (3) organic products Vermont. Using a difference-in-differences approach, we compare stores Vermont control states before after passed, implemented, repealed. find that during 120′s one-month period, soup decreased by 5.9%, increased 2.5%, 1.7%. Areas with lower levels education saw bigger increases products. Sales trends, however, reversed for all three product categories The actually 6% repealed medium term, suggesting improved attitudes towards over time.

متن کاملReasons for Labeling of Genetically Engineered Foods
Based on the scientific uncertainty surrounding both the molecular characterization of genetically engineered (GE) crops as well as the detection of potential allergenicity, there is more than enough uncertainty to decide to require labeling of foods produced via GE as a risk management measure as a way to identify unintended health effects that may occur post approval. If foods are not labeled...

In Japan, a large U.S. export market, there has been growing public opposition against genetically modified (GM) foods. Using a dichotomous choice contingent valuation method, findings show the discount needed for Japanese Seikyou consumers to purchase GM food products is positively affected (i.e., a greater discount is required) by higher levels of self-reported risk perceptions toward GM food...

Objective(s) Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are nonhematopoietic stromal cells that are capable of differentiating into and contribute to the regeneration of mesenchymal tissues. Human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) are ideal targets in cell transplantation and tissue engineering. Enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) has been an important reporter gene for gene therapy. The aim of this stu...

Genetically engineered crops were first commercialized in 1994 and since then have been rapidly adopted, enabling growers to more effectively manage pests and increase crop productivity while ensuring food, feed, and environmental safety. The development of these crops is complex and based on rigorous science that must be well coordinated to create a plant with desired beneficial phenotypes. Th...
